Sparkling Lemonade Made With A Juicer

My oldest daughter (six years old!) wants to buy a very expensive toy (it’s $65!). At one point I even told her Santa was on a budget because we all know where toys end up! So, for some unfortunate reason, she has not forgotten about this one toy (check it out here and give me your thoughts). So in order for her to get this gift, we have decided she must buy it with her own money! Here comes the Lemonade Stand idea!

I did some searches to find good recipes because I am not one to just do simple lemons + water + sugar. I love adding unique ingredients and also spinning recipes! This recipe was inspired by The Sensible Mom. Enjoy!

Our recipe!

Ingredients: This makes about 12 small cups

3 apples

3 lemons

1.5 tbsp of white sugar (you can sub/add however you want to taste)

3 cans of non-flavored sparkling water

Ice

* For some extra fun, we made some lemonade for adults! Just add a shot of vodka or gin!

Instructions:

  1. Have the kids wash all the produce & take the stickers off. I did cut out the seeds and core of the apples and the ends and seeds of the lemons. I also cut the apples in four pieces and lemons in half to fit the juicer.
  2. Have kids take a fork and take the seeds out of the lemons and place them onto a plate/bowl/napkin and throw the seeds away.
  3. Place container on the side of the juicer to collect juice. Using juice at high speed, I had each kid add pieces of apples and press them down.
  4. Have kids add the half lemon pieces. I would taste it at this point. Our taste testers recommened 1 more whole lemon and sugar so here we added the 1.5 tbps of sugar to the bowl and the kids mix this.
  5. When pouring, we filled a plastic cup with ice, about 1/4 of the way with the juice, and topped it off with sparkling water. We then used a straw to mix!
  6. For extra fun, we added edible glitter to the drink! We had the kids pick out their favorite colors and mix them!
  7. For the adult lemonade, we added a shot of vodka or gin on top as a floater!
